Robyn Fenty NH[22 (/ri'aen@(/ri'aen@ (listen) Ree-AN -@;[3][4][n 1] born February 20, 1988) is a Barbadian performer, actress and businesswoman. Born in Saint Michael and raised in Bridgetown, Barbados, Rihanna auditioned for American record producer Evan Rogers who invited her to the United States to record demo tapes. After joining Def Jam, in 2005, Rihanna quickly gained fame with the release of her two first studio albums: Music of the Sun (2005) & A Girl Like Me (2006). These albums strongly influenced by Caribbean music, and reached the top ten spots on the US Billboard 200 Chart. Good Girl Gone Bad (2007) was the third album by Rihanna. This album featured elements from dance-pop and made Rihanna a symbol for sex in the music industry. The single that topped the charts "Umbrella" gave Rihanna her first Grammy Award and catapulted her into the spotlight. The next album she released was Rated R (2009) and Loud (2010), Talk That Talk (2011) and Unapologetic (2012) she continued to blend R&B and pop genres. The album that came out was the first time she reached Billboard 200 number 1. The albums spawned a string of chart-topping songs, such as "Rude Boy", "Only Girl (In the World)", "What's My Name? ", "S&M", 'We Found Love', & "Diamonds". The album she released on her eighth, Anti (2016), showed a fresh approach to creativity following her departure from Def Jam. It was her second US number-one album, featuring the hit song "Work". Rihanna has collaborated with many artists in her music career. This includes Jay-Z and Kanye West. Jay-Z, Jay-Z, Kanye Ne-Yo, Jay-Z and Shakira. With sales of more than 250 million records around the world, Rihanna is the second-best-selling female musician of all time. Rihanna has earned 14 top-ten singles and 31 top ten singles in the US and 30 top-ten entries in the UK. She has received nine Grammy Awards, thirteen American Music Awards (including Icon Award), 12 Billboard Music Awards and six Guinness World Records. She also received the NAACP's President's Award. Time listed her as among the top 100 most influential individuals in the world in 2012 and 2018. Forbes identified her as one of the top ten highest-paid famous people in 2012 and 2014.
